This online course was designed to replace an instuctor-led training during New Employee Orientation and ensure consistency of content to all staff. This elearning was also created to reduce the weekly commitment for the Security team and reduce the time that new employees spent in orientation. This course introduces new staff to safety policies, security procedures, and introduces employees to their responsibilities in case of emergencies or inappropriate behavior. It was designed to match corporate branding and style guidelines.

This learning solution needed to reduce training time for new employees and subject matter experts. This course also needed to be accessible on mobile devices and tablets.
Learners are required to work through scenarios and knowledge checks for active engagement with the content instead of just passively reading through the material. A cumulative assessment at the end of the content is there to ensure that learners pay attention to the content and remember the most important details. The course concludes with a call to action highlighting the take-away points and a short list of things for them to do. Because learners receive a lot of information in orientation, I wanted to ensure that they had specific steps to follow-up on the content that they learned.
Even though this content was developed as a replacement for an instructor-led training, the content that needed to be covered was not clearly defined when I started working on this piece of instruction. Different presenters would focus on topics that were important to them. Once all of the training objectives were established and agreed upon, I worked hard to weave the content into a flow that the learner could follow and remember, rather than a laundry list of things to remember.
Touching base with Subject Matter Experts multiple times throughout the development process will give them a chance to think about the material and discover gaps in the content.
